I am anything but ignorant. I have been through catechism and catholic high school where I also learned about other religions. Buddhism is not a cult because they do not ask for money nor do they use guilt.

Religions teach what they want about other religions. If you want to know full and well about every religion, you need to study under every religion. Dont just take one religions word as full truth.

Religion was originally created to answer questions that we could not, as well as to create order in society before we had laws. We now have laws and anyone that believes someone walked this planet that could walk on water, turn water to wine, and had a virgin mother is insane. Almost all wars have been over religious differences. Most religions are also against gays, birth control and abortion in a world that is already over populated.

But you have to admit that the Westboro Baptist church is an exception- they deserved to be knocked.

I'm pretty sure that choosing not to follow a religion counts as a belief system, in and of itself, let alone believing that some form of intelligent design exists. In countries where it is the majority religion there are people who spit on beggars (especially if disabled) because they believe that they must have been evil in a previous life to 'deserve' their lot in this life. Any religion that teaches non-evidence-based certainty leads to evil treatment of other people.

First, this FML clearly isn't about a difference in religious views, it's about OP's boyfriend supporting and insane hate group. Frankly I don't care if someone believes that the entire universe grew from an onion, if they can see the stupidity breeding in the WBC community, I'm not going to try to invalidate their thoughts and views by pointing at their religion. Atheists or agnostics are in no way superior to religious people or vice versa, and it's the belief that one group is that makes this whole thing a clusterfuck.
