I feel bad for you, OP. =(
That's wrong on so many levels? How did you end up finding out the truth?
Hmm I also strongly suspect that if it was done this way, then legally he is liable for child support
In the UK he would be, not sure about elsewhere. In the clinic the donor and the parents can sign a form releasing the donor from all responsibility. As they went 'DIY' I bet there is nothing protecting op's ratbag husband should they decide to claim from him. Gotta say he'd deserve it too!
Here in Canada there was a lesbian couple that used a friend's "donation" and a turkey baster to conceive, when they split he was held liable for child support, regardless of the waiver they signed because it wasn't anonymously done in a fertility clinic. The judge ruled that you can't waive legal obligations, therefore the waiver was invalid.
It went to the supreme court. You cannot agree to an illegal act in a contract and they ruled that likewise you cannot avoid a legal obligation by contract. Rights you can waive, but not obligations. The woman with custody went on welfare and it was the government going after him for child support.
Wait ! They do this in the French movie "un long dimanche de fiançailles". It's during WW1 and a soldier asks one of his friend, who wasn't fighting at the moment for some reason, to make a fifth child to his wife (they had four children already) so that he gets to come back home, because once you had five children you were discharged. In other words, is your husband's friend in Irak ?
Thats not real. I have several military friends who have over four children and they all get deployed
I'm pretty sure it was real I mean it was WW1 so things probably have changed, in almost a hundred years and this applied to French army maybe not U.S.
It is proven that having an ****** while trying to get pregnant makes it more effective. However, that probably wasn't his train of thought..
Actually, that's a myth. Using artificial sperm (basically just a thick liquid made of a compound that would show up on scans) they've proven that a woman's ****** does nothing to contribute to the likelihood of conception. It doesn't "suck the sperm up" or in any other way add an extra boost to the swimmers. So the husband could try and use that as an excuse, but it wouldn't make him any less full of shit.
I agree. I've got two children, and penetrative sex has never me ******. Female orgasms have nothing to do with the conception process... They are just a bonus.
It doesn't make the egg easier to get to for the sperm. The research I've read on topic suggests that the act of sex and the hormones released during increase the chances for the egg to bind to the uterus.
Just divorce him, if he would do that obviously you deserve better
So maybe you should have talked about all the details before this all happened. But don't listen to the others and file for divorce ... surrogate parenting is old news. It's been done for many many generations. It sucks you found out after the fact, but it doesn't make your hubby a total jerk... just a bit of an idiot.
It's sad that there are so many comments that assume that marriage has to end because the husband made a mistake.
Yes he made a mistake...but if she doesn't get pregnant after this attempt...is he going to continue with this method in the following months until she finally conceives?

Then there should no longer be anything "factual" about you two being married.
Whip his ass. No don't do that. Bad idea. But I'd seriously get a lawyer or a marriage counselor.
