Today, I dutifully attended my husband's local gig at a coffee shop. I thus found out, through song, about my husband's affair, in front of about 100 people. All of whom we both know. FML

leannez tells us more.

This is OP. I approached them both long before they made they affair public. (Which they denied) But he literally sang the song to me to make sure I knew. I walked out before it was over.

That's pretty low of him to not be man enough to tell you himself, yet write a song about it and tell the rest of the world. Fyl indeed!

as a writer i have to say that if it was a song it may well have been fictional. id love to hear more details from the OP.

Life of a musician. He needed SOMETHING to write about. No one wants to hear songs about happy marriages. FYL OP but some people are just of that nature where they can't be content without creating some kind of conflict in their life.

I typically condemn people who cheat because it's so wrong, if you wanna **** other people, break it off with you current partner. But I simply don't see enough detail to determine if this guy did cheat. If he is a musician then it may well be fantasy. A lot of songs are.

Unless the lyrics were something like, "Honey I went and I cheated on you / oh yes it's true / I'm lookin' at you / I cheated on you / it's true and this song is 100% autobiographical / no seriously I'm not making this up / I've been cheating on you for a while / trust me, this is completely true / I'm not saying that for the sake of the narrative I just decided this would be an appropriate moment to come clean because you can't kill me in front of 100 witnesses", you might want to consider the fact that it could have been fiction. Unless you also think David Bowie is an astronaut in which case I don't know what to say to you.

Well, now YOU can borrow a tune from Taylor Swift- I'd choose, "We are Never, ever, ever getting back together."

Given your word choice of it being a duty to go instead of willingly supporting your husband, I am assuming you have a rocky marriage. He was probably just singing about his fantasy of cheating and being happy.
