Today, I finally realized the toll working as a cashier 5 days a week during the holidays does to your psyche. I just said "Welcome To Walgreens", out of pure reflex, to my cat as she walked into my kitchen. FML

Hey guys, OP Here. I don't hate my job. My boss works awesomely with my schedule, I make a ton of money, and I work with a bunch of good people. I try my best to welcome everyone who comes in when I'm at the lead register, but my store can get about 8-900 customers a day, so my welcomes can be a little reflexive. I had just gotten up that morning, after working a 9 hour shift the night before, with a 7 hour shift ahead of me. I heard the cat push the door open, and I said it half-asleep with my siblings all around the table.

I sometimes do that after a shift (especially that one month when I worked 72 hours a week). I greet people on the phone with the same generic line I use at work.

I do that when I get home from work at the movie theater. "Hey hon, will you grab me some popcorn" "That'll be $7.90. Did you want butter?"

I once work so many hours on a weekend at a call center (I work as a fundraiser) that I ended several of my conversations on the following Monday with: "have a nice weekend!" making all of those people giggle. Also, I have several times answered my own phone saying: "hello, you're speaking to Cecilie. I'm calling on behalf of..." confusing the person on the other end...

When you nip out on your break and expect everyone on the street to ask you where stuff is...

Aww.......That's sweet. Did she say thanks? I simply MUST know. But, sadly, she must have meowed. Wonder what she would have said if she could actually talk.

If cats could talk, world domination would follow. As is, cats are already on their way to world domination!

I too use to work at Walgreens. I've caught myself saying 'be well' when I would leave my friends house. 40 hours a week for two years will do that to you.

i work for a convient tip myself and i habe done similar things a few times.

Calls now always end with me saying, "is there anything else I could help you with? Thank you for calling! Have a nice day!" Sure confused the call centre staff when I call in! And we both have a laugh cos I'm sure they do it too.

I work at Walgreens too. In the pharmacy and I can vouch that I say "welcome to Walgreens" "thank you for calling Walgreens" "be well" in day to day life now after years of being here...

I have to stop myself from asking the cashiers at other stores if they "found everything alright"
