needagoodlaugh tells us more.
The car has a computer system that tells you the problem. It needed an oil change and it keeps beeping until you do it. Considering it just came on yesterday it was safe to drive home without getting it changed.

Learn to change your own oil. It's incredibly easy to do. I'm not handy at all and I can do it.
Usually oil change doesn't beep continuously, only once when you get going. If the oil is low however, the car does start complaining and you should not drive further than the next gas station.
I'm surprised (although I probably shouldn't be) at how many people are apparently commenting before reading the other comments. The OP has made several follow ups making it clear that: 1. His car has a computer to tell him the oil needs changing, the oil was NOT low, people. 2. It was Easter Sunday so nothing was open. He couldn't even buy oil to change it himself. 3. He regularly maintains the car and this warning came on early, before 3000 miles was up since the last change so it was a surprise. Sorry for the rant but it really gets up my nose when people comment and go on about how the OP deserves it etc well after several good follow ups that invalidate their opinion and just makes them look like idiots. /rant
Or the ones who are totally wrong in what they're telling the guy.
Thank you. It is frustrating having people repeat things that I've already clarified. Also for all those that say I could have damaged my car, I asked the mechanic today and he said no it was completely fine to drive what I did.
Why didn't you stop to get it changed in all those 200 miles? It doesn't take long at all...
As mentioned a few times now it was Easter Sunday. Everywhere was closed.
I know you've said it's easter sunday and "everywhere was closed". Sincerely doubt it since I was able to go buy oil and work on my car this Sunday...
Haha I've done that before. Thankfully my car isn't annoying like yours :)
I am an auto technician not a "mechanic" and yes there is a difference. I work on many different cars everyday and have yet to see one that constantly beeps unless there is an issue that can potentially damage the vehicle (not saying there isn't one out there just that I haven't seen one) most maintenance minders go off a few seconds after the car is started and won't return until it is started again. About the oil black oil is not a good indication of it needing to be changed as some oils will pick up contaminants and turn black as soon as you start the car that's more of an indication of poor maintenance (unless its diesel that's common to be black). And while going an extra 200 miles on an oil change probably didn't hurt it it's highly not recommended as currently there is no way to tell if the oil has lost its lubricating abilities without sending it to a lab. Running an engine with bad oil over time causes all the holes and passageways to sludge up and particles and trash not picked up by the filter damage bearings and other important parts of the motor. So in short keep you cars well maintained and follow the schedule set in place by the manufacturer and your car will live a long and happy life
In the truck the wires are degrading so it says door ajar even though they're all closed so every 20 seconds you hear ...DIING.
im surprised you have a car left after 200 miles
Amazing to see how many ignorant "think they know it all" people got on OP's case over something so simple...how about all you know it alls & daughters/sons of mechanics just not even comment. 200 miles isn't going to damage the engine. These computers base knowledge is for 3,000 miles...most engine oils can actually withstand an additional 2,000 miles without destroying the engine (unless you're using that really cheap stuff or the stuff labeled as "recycled"....then I'd be worried)

200 miles without checking the source of the noise, or resolving the problem? You didn't pull over? You probably don't pull out either. Since you don't listen the warning signs parenthood is sneaking up on you faster than you expect.
You couldn't change it anywhere along those 200 miles?
