So close. You're supposed to take the money, then tell him anyway. Bitch strings along your best friend you string her along. You sink to her petty level and get back at her in all the ways she deserves so your friend can walk away the bigger man AND know she got whats hers. For extra bro-points save that money for a night out once he's recovered.
