Ouch. That's so shitty. I heard of this woman who has a spending problem that took out a bunch of credit card applications in her child's name. Her kid is TWO. Great parenting, huh?

And that's why you should have had the title in your name. If it was in her name, then technically it was her car.

I work for a loan company and its impossible to get a loan without being the owner on the title. Even if you were co-owner, you would have to signed off documentation stating you gave your mother rights to place a lien on the title. If you did pay on the car, your name should have been on the title. So technically, it's your mother's car. Your mom got a loan and she couldn't pay it back. She's having financial issues. You should look into that. I know I'd be willing to drop everything for my mother.

What OP hasn't shared here, because of the space limitations is that either: a) He is under 18 and could not legally purchase the car in his name (minors can't enter into legally binding contracts). b) He is under 18 and has that problem most kids do where they refer to "my [insert property that parents actually paid for] " (e.g. my xbox, my house, my car, my room, etc) and the mom got a title loan against a car OP was using. -or- c) He is some sad sack who couldn't get the car or the insurance in his name for what I am certain are reasons of epic proportions. Either way, if she got a title loan against it the car was legally owned by - yup, you guessed it - MOM! So, tough luck there OP. Say hi to all those hobo love machines we hear about here on FML when you are riding mass transit!!!

If you buy it for your kid your an Indian giver for taking it back and a bitch, I do not give a shit if the mother bought it, if you got it and gave it to your kid it is theirs (and spare me the pissed off remarks about how Indian giver is some how racist, it's a fricken saying)
