Bed bugs are horrible, I got them from a friend staying at my place for two weeks, you have to throw away everything that's fabric to make sure you get rid of them

Your worried over the money spent on acne cream than little critters eating you while you sleep?...good luck with that

The point of the FML is that this whole time, OP was spending an absurd amount of money trying to fix the wrong issue. Ugh, reading this just gave me willies. Bed bugs are disgusting >

That comment was great! I tried to do one similar with a person and I failed miserably. Haha

People keep saying "get rid of the bed". Don't forget the couch, any fabric chairs, and possibly most of your wood furniture. Wash every single bit of your clothing, and your curtains, steam clean all the carpets, and hire a professional pest control person. You are going to spend several thousand dollars. Or just move and don't take anything with you. Or just burn the house down and replace it all. Yeah. The little buggers are nasty and extremely difficult to kill. Source: Spent over $2000 over the past 2 years to finally eradicate mine. Best of luck to ya!

Yeah. Don't just "burn the bed". Dumbest thing I've ever heard. Depending on the severity, you may be able to salvage some stuff. Ironically, I was able to salvage my mattress, by simply using a special cover. Either way, it's really costly. I ended up getting them from my ex staying at my house. Been dealing with it since August. Been clean almost 3 months now though. By the way, to those if you being nasty and questioning how OP didn't know, only 10% of the population is reactive to bedbug bites. Most people don't notice at all. If you think noticing is that easy, then you've obviously never had them. And a hint to the OP. Strong rubbing alcohol kills them on contact. Stay away from the sprays as they don't work. That's definitely an FYL.

I moved 2000 miles away. I washed all my clothes at a laundromat and stuffed them into plastic bags, took some other precautions as well, and then left with my Dad who had come to pick me up. Some hitched a ride on the bottom of a chair, under a label. Fortunately I was able to kill them before they could feed, and they never had a chance to lay eggs. I've been here for almost two years now and haven't seen any sign of them - and trust me, the infestation in my old apartment was so bad that I know what to look for. The eggs leave telltale signs - tiny black dots on any surface, especially one that's hidden away. The bugs themselves leave telltale signs - reddish brown marks on the sheets where they defecate, and dead bugs in the bed in the morning. As others have already said, they live in various places - basically anywhere a cockroach lives, a bedbug can hide, too. What no one has said yet is that they're extremely temperature-tolerant, and it's just shy of impossible to freeze them out (they hibernate in extreme cold) or cook 'em out (they do die in high temperatures, but the building would be uninhabitable because of how hot it needs to get and the fact that it has to get that hot inside the walls).

FYL, OP. Those things are a freaking nightmare! You have to wash all your clothing in super hot water, and have to get rid of many of your possessions, and that's not even taking into consideration the stigma that having bedbugs causes. People often forget that bedbugs can be anywhere, no matter how clean and upscale it is.

Are you sure it's not from wearing heavy makeup?!

OP- What luck! Now your house can do a guest shot on Breaking Bad. And you can spend thousands on a tent full of toxic gas to try to kill those little buggers! Good luck, you didn't deserve this!!

I've even heard about people getting bedbugs from hotels. They put their suitcases on their beds to pack and the bugs crawl in and hitchhike back to your house! Infestation waiting to happen!

FYL. Bedbugs are horrible. And bedbugs are among the best travelers among insects. If you stay in a hotel, inspect the beds for signs of bedbugs before opening your luggage. If you find any signs of bedbugs, return to the desk and get a refund, then leave the hotel. Better to sleep in your car than risk spreading them, they're harder to eradicate than cockroaches.

Bed bugs they're magically delicious.

They're magically infectious, you mean?
