Today, I found out that my "secret admirer" I've been exchanging letters with for the last three months, and even started developing feelings for, is actually my ex best friend trying to pull a prank on me. FML

This really sucks. My former best friend did this to me too, only she signed up for an online e-mail account and set the name to the guy I liked at the time to make me think he was interested. I wish I could say it didn't completely wreck our 4 year friendship, but it did. We tried to be friends afterwards, but I just couldn't really trust her after that. She just thought she was being funny and that I would figure it out right away, but that didn't make it okay to do in the first place.

Why did you not try and find it out sooner? You had no idea what they looked like, their style, how they acted... didn't you think to find out who they were before you started "having feelings"? That's the very sensible thing to do...
