Today, I found out that the new management position I'm supposed to start in two days was delayed for a month and a half. I already quit my current job and called my boss gay. FML

At my company, I was forwarded an email where an ex-employee was lambasting me. It was false, but that isn't even the point. I called him and left him a voicemail telling him I had received it and recommending he not burn bridges. Our city of 2MM+ is too small for that. A couple of months later, he called me and asked for a reference. I called the hiring manager and gave him a solid review. He called me later that day to thank me because he got the job that afternoon. Don't be stupid and burn bridges you might have to cross.

Yes, No. 104, you said it all. In my position I would estimate that about once a month at a minimum I hear from someone who shit all over me, begging for a favor. Often they want a job for themselves or their offspring, despite having little to no experience in the field and a degree, if they have one, in a completely unrelated field. The economy stinks and on the rare occasion that we have an opening, we already have about 200 unsolicited resumes on file from people who are desperate to work for us and who actually have, at a minimum, a pertinent degree. So, let's see. Should I give a plug to the guy who called me a **** and a ************ or should I endorse one of the many qualified candidates vying for the position who have not insulted me? Hmmm, that's a tough one.
