Maybe its not his fault for -hitting- the dog, if it wasn't on a leash properly, or it ran in front of him, but it sounds like he -drove away with the neighbor chasing him-, which means likely he did not stop after hitting the dog. I'm sorry, even if its some idiotic dyed-pink poodle, you stop if you hit somebody's pet.
If the neighbour had time to get a shot gun, OP probably did stop. If someone came out of their house holding a shot gun I know I'd run too.
have you people ever had/have a dog? he/she dies it's like losing an (extended) family member. chasing the OP with a shotgun is a bit overboard, but really... stopping and apolagizing couldn't hurt...
From the way I see things, OP did stop. The neighbor chased him for a mile, which makes me think the neighbor wasn't driving (if they were in a car, why not 5 miles? or 20?) a mile isn't far at all in a car) If OP had been driving the neighbor wouldn't have been able to keep up. Cars are a lot faster than people. OP is just lucky the neighbor only chased him and not shot him.
WHY DONT YOU RUN THOSE HILLBILLIES OVER WITH YOUR CAR, UNLESS YOUR DRIVING A MINI-COOPER. THEN YOUR SCREWED.
Replying to 141; I so very sincerely doubt that anyone with an I.Q. of 150 would type as you do.
ey if u hit my dog ive would of done the same thing
In most states there is a leash law and if a dog runs out into the street and gets hit, it's the OWNERS fault. And any person on here who says 'you should be ready for anything' is a ******* moron. You mean to tell me you drive constantly prepared for something to jump out in front of your car? I've hit a dog before and if you don't have time to stop, you don't have time to stop. And if I have to choose between hitting your cheap ass stupid dog (which is your fault that it got out) or a very expensive car on the side of the street that I'll have to pay for, i'm hitting your dumbass dog (if I could hit you, I'd probably choose that first)
I agree, I swerved to avoid a dog once, and hit the curb. The dog suddenly jumped out onto a street with a speed limit of 60km/h. If I had to do it again, I would have just hit the stupid dog.

So you got chased by a shotgun-wielding dog?
FYL, OP. Next time pay attention to the road?
