This FML leads me to assume that you accidentally hit the dog, but cowardly sped away instead of owning up to it, so therefore, YDI
Before anyone else posts, please take this into consideration. 1) The OP did not run over the dog on purpose. Why would anybody run over a dog on purpose and then be surprised by serious retribution? 2) The neighbor did not have his dog on a leash. If he had bothered to put a leash on his dog, the dog wouldn't have been out in the street in the first place. 3) It's obvious the OP got out of his car after hitting the dog. If he was in a car and decided to speed away, how would his neighbor be able to chase him, on foot, with a shotgun, for a mile? I'm guessing the neighbor didn't hop in his car and drive after him, holding his shotgun out of the window. 4) The OP should have been careful, but you can't rule out the possibility that he couldn't see the dog until it was too late (quickly backing out of a drive way) or that the dog walked in front of his car. 5) Having your dog run over is no excuse to chase someone down the street with a shotgun, let alone to injure or kill them.
Would people react any differently if he had hit the neighbors child instead of the dog? My guess is that you were driving too fast since you couldn't have avoided it or you weren't paying attention. that's your fault and no leash law triumphs over driving laws. Now your neighbor is left without a dog and you are alive and well enough to brag about it.
Yes. Because kids don't just wander into streets unless the parents are completely careless with their children. At legal speeds it is still possible to run over an animal. The dog could have run in front of his car. And the OP doesn't state if the dog was injured or killed. speed limits < assault laws And your last sentence is just melodramatic.
Do you happen to know that if a person jumps in front of your car, you are not at fault. Do you also happen to know that most animals are dumb and tend to do stupid things if not properly trained. I have two dogs and even though I get plenty of car traffic they have never been run over because they are not retarded. It sucks when a pet dies, I know this, but that doesn't give you guys the right to insult and tell the OP that he should die because some dumb animal got itself killed. You guys wouldn't be getting angry at someone if a deer jumped in front of their car and they couldn't do anything to avoid it. OP, don't let all these retards get you down because they don't understand how the world works.
Kill yourself.
Today, I came home to play with my favorite dog, only to find that he had been run over by my rude neighbor. FML
Today, I left my back door open and let my dog run out onto the street. My innocent neighbor accidently ran over him. I chased him like a ******* madman with a shotgun and got slapped with assault charges that I clearly deserved. Please sympathize with my dumb ass. FML
It's the internet. Unfortunately, it's full of idiots.
I hope you die a death 1000 times more painful than whatever you inflicted on that poor dog!
it's t he dog owner fault for letting his dog run around the street. call the cops and have him arrested. i'm sure someone else would have seen him running for a mile carrying a shotgun:|

So you got chased by a shotgun-wielding dog?
FYL, OP. Next time pay attention to the road?
