Yeah PTSD is not fun. My dad is a Vietnam veteran and he has his days where he's moody. I know your grandpa didn't mean to and I know he would never harm you. Give him a hug to show you're there for him and thank him for his service for me
You would think people would've learned from Drake and Josh.
I hope your grandpa didn't hurt you to bad, hope your both ok.
This is more of a **** his life situation to be honest
I don't know why so many people say you deserved it. Unless you knew he was so badly affected by PTSD it's not like setting off an extra small firework is some heinously irresponsible blunder. Sorry to hear about your grandpa's mental scars though, he has my sympathy.
Not everyone is savvy to the various manifestations of PTSD. A sufferer can be triggered by any number of stimuli, and unless PTSD is something you have made yourself educated on, it's easy enough to do something otherwise innocent and accidently push a victim over the edge. OP should have known, but that doesn't mean they're at fault for not knowing. I should have been more clear and stated that unless OP knew about PTSD triggers and that his grandpa suffered from it, setting off a small leftover firecracker isn't deserving of what resulted. It's just an unfortunate situation, and now hopefully OP is wiser for it.
I've often wondered how many veterans suffer from PTSD each year caused by major festivals such as New Years. It must be a lot. Especially with the older generation who remember the artillery from the World Wars.
PTSD is super complex. I was raised by vets WWII, Korea, Vietnam. My oldest son is 8 yrs into his military career. I've seen triggers as simple as an accent, or them finding out I spoke mandrin Chinese, Russian &German. Hope you are both alright.

That's why I carry firecrackers around whenever I'm with my veteran grandfather. In case I ever piss somebody off, I know I'm a lighter-flick away from Hulk-level protection. Some people think I'm exploitative and douchey, but to them I say… *takes out lighter and firecrackers*
The new year started out with a bang I suppose. Hopefully your grandpa is ok.
