This sounds like one of those Gawdawful lecture hall 400 student Freshman classes we all had to suffer through. The instructor is probably a lowly TA who is not much older than the students and has no desire or ability to maintain control or command respect. You have to decide how far you want to take this-college isn't cheap, either you or your parents are probably paying out hard earned money for your education and it sounds like you aren't getting your money's worth.
College? Really?? They sound incredibly immature. Including the instructor.
OP - from your comments about what your classmate said - it seems he was shouting out all the things he likes to eat... :) Honestly - your life is better for not knowing people like that on a personal level. Cheer up and just start calling him **** sucker every time you see him- if he get upset just say it's your Tourette's :D
Wtf? How can some people be such insensitive assholes? And the instructor didn't even do anything either!
The Bob Saget part was hilarious ! I mean it's obviously disrespectful and inconsiderate, but they probably meant you no harm. It's just some stupid joke, and anyone who knows South Park would laugh at this. On the bright side, if it makes you feel better at the end of the episode... /////Spoiler Line Do Not Cross////// ...the kid who fakes having turret syndrome, gets so used to yell whatever he wants whenever he wants that he eventually ends up telling out loud ashamming things about himself without being able ton control himself. This may happen to your classmates. Cheers, and never take things too seriously.
How is this helpful?
My jaw actually dropped in disbelief and horror when I read this. I cannot fathom how people can act so cruelly. I am so sorry OP - I'm sure there were people there whom your story touched and you are so brave to tell it. The teacher acted like a total jerk too. Don't let this stop you talking about it though - it is important and you are making a difference - I think you are very brave OP.
More people need to be brave like OP and dismantle the stereotypes about Tourette's. Very proud of OP for trying, but some people will just always be stupid. This is probably the most heartbreaking FML I have ever read.
I'm curious what college that is. I go to college in California too but I would be extremely surprised if anything like that happened. I will assume it's a community college in a ghetto area.
Oy! There are a lot of adults going back for degrees at community colleges. The one I attended (Gasp! A community college! Quick! Throw tomatoes at me!) was amazing with a high percentage of adults.
I attended community college first, and I can assure you, most of my classmates were middle aged adults going back to school, and the younger people (for the most part at least) had a sense of maturity. Yeah, you had a few immature assholes here and there, but it wasn't nearly as much as a university. And I can guarantee you that if one of those assholes pulled a stunt like that during a presentation (at least where I went), not only would the instructor rip him a new one, the other students would too.
I'm so sorry that insensitive people like them exist. But the instructor should have stood up for you, I know I would.
I'm sorry to hear that. Some people just suck :/

I would imagine that college students would have the maturity level to act like adults for a small portion of their life. But i guess some people can't. Sorry to hear Op. Some people still act like 7th graders even when they're adults and its a tad stupid to put it frankly
Bob saget?
