Today, I gave up trying to make any friends at my job as a firefighter. I'm the lone female, and am the subject of gossip with the older men. Anyone I try to befriend ends up hitting on me, while others won't even talk to me because their wives are jealous. FML

I feel that pain OP! So many people are like "oh stop complaining that people like you." Well it's ****** difficult when you can't maintain any real friends. Sorry OP :(

Understandable. I'm in ems and everyone thinks that if you are a woman in ems you are either a ****, a bitch, or a lesbian. Not that there is anything wrong with being all three lol it just doesn't seem like any happy mediums. You just have to stay strong, do well at your job, and have an "I don't give a ****" attitude. Eventually if you stick around long enough you'll get there.

Welcome to our line of work. Male dominated work environments are a bit ridiculous. I have the same problem in law enforcement.
