Wow if someone told me what that guy in the comic said, I'd make sure he got fired xD well not really but it would definitely make me pissed. I don't care about having 100 friends or even a million friends, I don't need that, I already got my circle of friends that I can really trust. I have a load of "friends" anyway, but really, all we do is say hi and say happy bday on each other's fb. Quality over quantity.

I don't actually think this is bad. I can count the people I truly class as friends on 2 hands as well. Not because I can't make friends; I have plenty of acquaintances who'd come to something like this. But I don't think anyone has that many actual friends. I'd rather have 8 good friends than 100 people I know, but who I actually don't have that much in common with.
