unseeable tells us more.
To clear up some questions I wanna start by saying I'm 17 and currently training to be a manager at mcdonalds. I work 40 hours a week and go to high school as a senior. I don't have much time for friends so they figured grounding me wasn't exactly the best punishment. They decided to start charging me for bad grades or not being able to do some chores or simple stuff like that, nothing too major. I thought that it seemed a little unjust for taking my hard worked money from me because of course it only happens to me in my family because I work the most and everyone else has more time for being grounded.

welcome to the club
If you live with them and yall live I SC, there is nothing you can do. But check out your state laws for teenage rights.... There may be something you can use......
To all those saying he's what's wrong with the world and is an entitled brat you are fools. He went and got a job to make money, seems more responsible than most these days. And since when does wanting the money you worked hard to earn make you an entitled brat. If I was you op I'd say forget the bank account and cash your check at a gas station or walmart. Then hide the money from you thieving parents. Because that's what they are, thiefs. Everyone saying well your parents had to pay for you to have stuff while you were growing up that's horse shit. Supporting your child financially is what you sign up for when you become a parent. You don't want to do that don't have kids. Stealing your kids money later when they have a job just makes you an asshole.
Preach it brother!
You speak like an Irish person! :D
I find it hilarious when people, especially from the different states within the US, try to comment on what the law is. It varies massively from state to state, and even more so from country to country. Just because something is illegal in your locale doesn't mean it is in OP's. Stealing is stealing wherever you go. Labor laws and other nuance laws not so much.
Move out ASAP
what kind of fuckery is this o.0

The day you turn 18 get a roomate and move out. If youre going to be handing over money for petty nonsense you might as well live under your own roof and not deal with anyones bullshit. I moved out at 17 and five years later still think it was the best decision I ever made.
Move out a.s.a.p. and pay rent, food, utilities, etc. That'll teach them

40hrs and school, of course your study time is going to be effected. must suck going to class, then work, and be expected to do chores. only plus side is you will be prepared for life when you get your own place. keep you head up.
