unseeable tells us more.
To clear up some questions I wanna start by saying I'm 17 and currently training to be a manager at mcdonalds. I work 40 hours a week and go to high school as a senior. I don't have much time for friends so they figured grounding me wasn't exactly the best punishment. They decided to start charging me for bad grades or not being able to do some chores or simple stuff like that, nothing too major. I thought that it seemed a little unjust for taking my hard worked money from me because of course it only happens to me in my family because I work the most and everyone else has more time for being grounded.

well you can always move out
That's how the IRS does it, good time to grow up I guess
Those saying illegal go to cops, think about it op had cash it or with draw it. You don't leave it lying around and op said instead meaning it was prob explained why and op picked the money so he could do something but both ways op had to give it. He has no grounds with cops for it. Probably not the first time he did what he's punished for. He gets a fine instead of rent every month. But and cook his food, all his cleaning and what ever else he needs. Oh and insurance, cheaper with parents. Even with rent there's rules and u can be evicted.
Op is playing the poor me so unfair card. Do please take in account op isn't a bad off as he made it out there's a lot worse
I mad 800 a month and got 50 the rest went to bills and things needed. 14-21. I stayed till all sisters where out and doing good and my mom was ok then. Op has it easier yet I didn't whine I did what was needed.

40hrs and school, of course your study time is going to be effected. must suck going to class, then work, and be expected to do chores. only plus side is you will be prepared for life when you get your own place. keep you head up.
Miss read and reply didn't work, more power currently training but please don't stick your self in it the next 50 years lol unless the give you a corprut or own store that's be cool
it's still not right because that check is under YOUR name for an organization and if they're taking it without your permission, then I believe legally, they can be in trouble for stealing.
If you can't spell corporate, you shouldn't be giving life advice. Good luck OP!
wait, legally, you're not allowed to work 40 hours and go to school. mickey ds could get in trouble for that
You can legally work 40+ hours as a minor only if parents give permission though and it doesn't affect their grades... Which it sounds like it does. My brother worked there, most McDonalds don't care about the law xD
agreed
It varies in every state...
132, please tell me English is not your first language.
133, I'm not disagreeing with you at all, but in some states until the kid is 18 their parents can claim every penny they work for. It's not fair, but that's how it works in some places.
My mom does the same thing, just not for grades. She charges me a little bit of money for leaving lights on (to cover the light bill) and she charges me for leaving socks around and stuff like that. Your situation seems much worse though, OP. Hope things get better. :/
You can work over 40 hours no matter what your age I know I did.
as a 17, legally u can work up to 40 hrs a week provided school is not in session. They also can not legally make him work longer than 8 hrs a day when school is in session, nor can they make him work more than five days straight with a day break.......UNLESS parental permission is given and signed. that's how it is here in Florida, or suppose to be anyways
Managers at McDonalds typically need a high school diploma, and I don't understand how you "finally got a job" and it's as a manager at 17...
I think you need a better job and your own place. 40 hours a week is 8 hours for 5 days and your getting a little over 300 some dollars. It's wrong to penalize you for low grades but I made it off 800 a month most to my family and it's seeming you have a better chance. If it's all because you make the most leave and get your own if they are going take money for what you said. You want to be a McDonald manager but you could probably find something your good at and enjoy that will pay more and you won't have to deal with faults not yours. Also something not so easy replaced as soon they think another has better experience.
I'm not sure I entirely see the problem. Just like paying a fine if you do something wrong. So long as they're not charging/taking an exorbitant amount.
Quit bitching. Maybe they need the help. Parents don't always tell kids what is going on financially. Kids worked on the farm at 8 years old back in the day!
If two parents can't make more money than a 17 year old kid working at McDonalds, they should probably go get jobs for themselves.
Steal it back.
