Today, I got a letter in the mail from corporate saying that I'm being demoted because I don't work enough hours. I also got a text from my boss congratulating me on making the best sales numbers for November. FML

nikkih_06 tells us more.

I was demoted from part time to causal part time, which requires that I work less then 20 hours a week. And I only get commission if I go over my goal.

You're just really efficient, point it out to your manager and get the matter rectified

You work little hours but have the best sales? The people at corporate sure are blind...

Perfect way of getting your best sells person to work more hours.

you should request your congratulation in writing.

I worked for a place that happened to me. I didn't get demoted but mgr threatened to fire me. I went to work for a different mgr. he was happy to get me and told me to take breaks as often as I liked.

I was once told that doing the little tasks set out for the day were more important than waiting on customers. Corporate intelligence in action.

Sounds like my job. "Youve been here almost 3 years and have better sales than everybody else, but I'm just going to give you 12 hours a week and hire full time people that have absolutely no idea what they're doing, and are just going to quit after 3 weeks."

A sensible person would take it as high up in the company as possible to get the biggest promotion.

Officially punishing a model employee is a great way to discourage their coworkers from trying harder. Your company has made a huge mistake, OP.
