Today, I got a missed call from a lady at an employment agency asking why I hadn't turned up to an information session for a potential job. Yesterday, the same lady told me the job position was canceled. FML

In my experience the companies that call back when you skip the interview are scam agencies. Maybe you got lucky.

Good thing u didnt go a lot of jobs with info sessions are commission based

Those places are full of idiots on my end of the world too. I suspect it would be easier to find a job if they didn't exist, even though you have to do the legwork yourself.

In all fairness, "Poopsmith" is not exactly what I would want on my resumè, either. You obviously displayed some sort of standards with the employment agency (low standards are still standards) and they didn't want you for this position. Just apply for the monkey beater position I always wanted (requires a four-year BS degree; I'm only on year 3) at a local zoo and hope for the best. Before anyone asks, yes, you will be beating off monkeys for no other reason than to keep their anger in check. Sure, the pay sucks, but you get all the bananas and fecal matter you could ever want! tl;dr - apply for "Monkey Beater" and beat off monkeys for a living

Really?? Did you bother to inform the person that you spoke to them less than 24 hours previously? If you didn't tell them that they already I formed you the job was canceled then you deserve half the blame.

"missed call" OP didn't speak to them. It wasn't that she couldn't be bothered! Could you be bothered to read the full FML? But yeah she should definitely call back and tell them that!

#17 I DID read the full FML, thanks. and you reiterated my point. I didn't know I had to type it out step by step to be understood. Missed call = return the phone call and inform the idiot on the other end that she had in fact told the OP previously that the job had been canceled. Better now? SMFH

I'm so sorry, I'm looking for work and I've had to deal with misinformation and mistakes from agencies before so I know how frustrating this must be. Do correct this though so the agency knows you weren't just a no show. Call or go in personally, speak to someone different to the last person you spoke to, ideally their superior, and explain you didn't come to the information session because that person told you it was cancelled. It's worth at least trying to tell your side of the story, you have nothing to lose. If it doesn't work out look on the bright side, at least you know now how incompetent the agency is, they would probably have forgotten to give you important information about a job, or pay you!
