Today, I got bailed out of jail. I was there because I saw a girl being hit by her boyfriend. I rushed over to help only to have her hit me repeatedly. The cops came and she blamed her bruises on me. The boyfriend corroborated her story. FML

Yet another example that humans are assholes and trying to help them has a big chance of you getting in the shit

wow that is so messed up on so many levels

I'm very impressed that you got involved. Domestic abuse, by either gender toward either gender, is just not cool, & it was awesome of you to step in & try to stop it. But definitely FYL for getting thrown in jail. Hopefully that girl will realize what a stupid mistake she made.

It's honorable to have the courage to be a super-hero, but if your going to do that, you have to have the guns to back it up. If you get the shit knocked out of you by a girl who was, in turn, getting beaten up, you need to change your superhero M.O. If you see a crime, use your Batphone to call 911 and stay there to witness. Dunh-da-ta! WitnessMan, at your service, ma'am! The authorities have been notified, and I am mentally recording the misfortune befalling you!

You're the most awesome person ever. XD

#14, why don't you read the FML again. He didn't say he got beat up. He said he got hit. There is a difference. OP made the right choice.

People that stay with violent people aren't worth saving. If they can't leave, which isn't hard to do, let them get whatever they get.

You're really dumb. You have no idea how hard it is to leave a relationship after she (thinks she) is that dependent on him.

That really sucks. And then people learn not to get involved when someone honestly does need it. What a ****** up society we live in. I know I probably shouldn't say the bitch deserves whatever fate that befalls her from staying with that douche, because unfortunately most people like that aren't thinking in the first place.

I was turned on by this until I read the part of you getting arrested. Then I went into full arousal.

I found myself in a similar situation after reading about you in full arousal. But not in a gay way. I mean, like maybe if you were... I'm going nowhere with this.

You should have Beat the **** out of both of the assholes!

Unfortunately, should have let her get the stuffing beat out of her... >_

I suggest you have your attorney research this couple's "priors". If he's beat her up once, he's done it before. There may be witnesses such as friends, neighbors, or roommates plus hospital records from past beatings that will corroborate your position that he is the guilty party and that you were simply the good samaritan.

She didn't deserve that and probably only backed up the abuser's story because of how afraid she is of him and how desperate she is for his approval. She was probably hoping that the abuser would see her show of loyalty and finally have full confidence in her and stop being angry at her all the time. Also, she probably feels that if she left him, he'd track her down and kill her or those she loves. He's in her head and leaving is harder for her than most people could fathom. It was honorable and wonderful for the OP to try and save her but the best way to save someone like that is to take away any of the abuser's deniability via video recording etc. On the one hand, if OP had just called the police maybe the abuser would have gone to jail. On the other hand, perhaps the next hit would have killed the victim and by stepping in so quickly, OP saved her life.
