Today, I got detention from my teacher for not handing an assignment in. It would be understandable if I hadn't handed it in a week before it was due. She won't listen to reason. FML

I handed In a mid term a week early and asked the teacher if anything was wrong with it , she said it looked fine, a week later on the due date she gave me a zero due to it's format being wrong

Maybe she was teaching you a lesson in following directions. Handing it in early was not part of the instructions! Teachers love to get you like that! :)

Dang, if I gave detention to all my students who didn't turn assignments in, I'd have about seventy students in detention every day.

Complain to the Principal. Never hand in your stuff early. NEVER. Always on time. Teachers always blame students when they lose their work. On the other side of this.... Back in highschool, in Grade 9, one girl handed in her assignment early - because she was going away on a holiday with her parents, mid term. The teacher then spent 10 minutes lecturing us about how good she was and how slack we were to not hand in our assignments early.

Yikes. We had a signature system at my school, so whenever you handed something in (early or not) it was dated and signed by you and your teacher. That way if they ever lost something of yours, you had definitive proof that you had handed the assignment in. I hope this gets sorted for you OP!
