The instructor's question is not really offensive, unless if you consider there is something offensive about being disabled. And wouldn't it be better that he asked this to someone who isn't disabled, rather than do the lesson with a disabled person but didn't ask? If the instructor is supposed to be informed about disabilities there is a reason. Better be safe than sorry.

you guys are idiots, the instructor wasn't being an ass or thought you were/looked disabled. They just need to know if you have any illnesses disabilities or diseases that may hinder your driving ability. It's to protect themselves and you should something happen both of you will be covered by insurance. Or possibly prevent an accident by deeming you unsafe as a driver.
