Today, I got on an elevator with a woman and her child. I was the first one on. When she stepped on, the capacity alarm went off. As she left she told her daughter that's why fat people shouldn't be allowed in public. I'm 145 lbs. She was twice my size. I got called fat by a hippopotamus. FML

Today, I was on the elevator going up to a meeting, and the elevator was getting more and more crowded as we went up. After about ten people got on, they all agreed that I should get off the elevator because they thought me being on was exceeding the weight limit. FML

Today, my co-workers agreed that I was the one causing the elevator to be over its weight limit. When I protested, saying that I only weigh around 150 pounds, one asked me if that included the weight of my wheelchair. They made me get out. FML

Today, I got on an elevator at the mall, along with a twelve or thirteen-year-old girl talking on her cell. She spent the whole ride telling the person on the other end how hideous I looked and how I look like a pregnant sperm whale. I was too humiliated to even say anything. FML

Today, I was taking the elevator down with a group of people. It stopped on the 2nd floor and I said "What asshole can't take the steps from the 2nd floor?" Then a kid in a wheelchair got on. FML

Today, a woman on the train demanded I give up my seat for her, claiming it was for people with disabilities. Tired from a long day at work, and seeing she had nothing wrong with her, I asked what her disability was. Apparently, obesity is one. FML

Today, I took the kids to the pool. I'm short and 20lbs overweight but they talked me into it and I put on a swimsuit for the first time in 10 years. As soon as we got there, a girl my height but a good 150lbs heavier said, "It's so nice to see another big girl in a two-piece!" FML

Today, my friend and I went to the park. I bet my friend I could fit into the swing that was sized for toddlers. I managed to fit in, but I couldn't get out. My friend had to call 911 to get me out. When they finally did, the fireman told me that fat ladies shouldn't try stuff like that. FML

Today, while at work, a rather large woman came in and ordered a cheeseburger. When asking if she would like to supersize it, she took her purse, smacked me, and told me she wasn't fat, and how rude I was for calling her supersized. I was just doing my job. FML

Today, I was in an elevator with a coworker I barely know. My stomach thought that it was time to remind me I hadn’t eaten breakfast. It growled like a dying whale, and my coworker gave me a concerned look. To make it worse, the elevator got stuck for five minutes. We stood in awkward silence, with my stomach making noises the whole time. FML

She wasn't a hippopotamus, she was a woman. THAT is why fat people hate skinny people. Jealousy is not the issue; CRUELTY is. Fat people can become skinny people with the right medication/motivation. More often than not, they're so hurt by being ridiculed for - OH, NO! - being overweight that they give up. Shame on you for thinking an overweight person is reason enough for an "FML." This will shock you, but YOU are the "FML" of overweight people with your intolerance. Stop making people want to die just to get away from you.

I don't feel sympathy for you after calling that woman a hippo, you lost a few points there. Also, unless you had some insecurities about your weight prior to this, I doubt you would've taken offense to it. Maybe you can take this experience and use it as motivation to go lose a little weight. Or, if you are completely happy about yourself, why would you be offended by what some stranger thinks about your own situation? I don't really see this as an FML at all...

No one enjoys being called fat, regardless of their weight. She is just fine as she is, I agree she could have gone without the hippopotamus part but I giggled as did half of the FML users who have posted. i agree with #8. i don't think that people should be saying that to their kids unless they want them to be exactly like them. then, when that happens, they'll say "oh, my baby wouldn't do that! she's an ANGEL!" BAH. friggin hippos.
