Today, I got pulled over on the highway for going over the speed limit. The cop seemed nice, and I was sure he'd let me off with a warning, until my husband piped up with, "Didn't think you folks came out this far. What, the donut store got shut down or some shit?" I got the ticket. FML

Next time tell him to shutup before all the stupid comes out.

I'm sorry, OP. Maybe next time try not to speed or go over the limit. Just pay your ticket before it gets higher.

So your husband likes to act before thinking. Not a good sign to miss!

But he won't be buried nearly as well as your stupid comment.

YDI for speeding in the first place. Just because a cop seems nice doesn't mean you deserve only a warning.

When are people going to learn that if you just respect cops they're nice? They only start powertripping when you challenge them. Also everybody saying she deserves it for speeding, you clearly don't have your license yet. IDK what part of Maryland OP is in, but in Baltimore all the highways have speed limits that, reasonably, are 10-20 mph to slow and have approximately 2 less lanes then are needed on any given section of any given highway. If everybody obediently crept down the Baltimore beltway at 55 MPH, especially at the bottlenecks where it goes down to 2 lanes, the beltway would be clogged and unnavigable 24 hours a day.

That does suck, but from an onlookers point of view, your husband ended up giving what you deserve. So yeah, FYL, but also, YDI.

I think your husband saying that didn't get you the ticket but still that comment was unnecessary...

The comment was unnecessary, but I think everyone realizes that telling an insult to a cop won't get you out of a ticket, right? The husband probably thought the cop was going to give her a ticket, so then he insulted the cop. Then after she got the ticket, they probably argued about whether or not she was about to be let go with a warning before he opened his mouth (she obviously thought she was, but I'm guessing that he didn't think so). So then she went on fmylife.com to complain about the ticket that she got "because of her husband."

I would have asked the officer to look away from a few seconds whilst you smacked him stupid - what a moron
