It's possible that the ex-wife has custody of the daughter. And the OP only gets to see his kid on a certain day or on supervised visits. But even then, he is under no obligation to do the ex-wife's chores. What the hell, OP?

The inappropriateness is that he's washing THEIR dishes whilst he's the visitor AND he has less time to spend with his kid (you know, the whole FML?). No-one ever said it was inappropriate for the girl to play with her sort-of step-dad.
