Today, I had to empty out my coin jar to pay for gas. Trying to be considerate, I only brought quarters, but the cashier refused to take it because they didn't want to count out my $10. I don't know how I'll get to work today. FML

Coins are legal tender. By law, they have to be accepted.

why don't you count it yourself and present them in groups of four instead of giving them the big ass pile of coins

You should complain to a manager. That's really wrong.

It's actually illegal for them to refuse ANY legal tender (which includes all coins) for a purchase.

This is one of those times where you have to use your a-hole card and ask for a manager. It would have taken less than two minutes to count that out.

Yep, what others have said, coins are technically cash, and can't be refused. Plus, what a lazy idiot. It's simple to count quarters. File a complaint.

wow that is some lazy ass cashier! I thought they had to accept any type of "legal tender". I once had to use 40 pennies to pay for gas, no lie. I certainly empathize wirh you!
