Today, I had to explain to my 18-year-old boyfriend why it is not okay to pee in the pool. FML

"Welcome to our 'ool' there's no 'p' in it, lets try to keep it that way!"

I still do that. No shame no game

Yeah, but you're an adorable puppy! You don't know any better!

Maybe you can explain it to me. A pint of pee (which is mostly water to begin with) in a pool with more than 20,000 gallons of water seems like a pretty diluted mixture. If it's undetectable, why are you making such a stink about it? If he had asparagus for dinner, that might be a different story.

What about the warm spot that lurks all around in the pool?

Physics, babe, physics. The warmth of the small amount of pee quickly dissipates until the system equilibrates at a temperature about a millionth of a degree warmer than the pool's undisturbed temperature. In other words, undetectable.

I had to read that a couple times just to get past that I was finally called "babe." But thanks for the input. Please don't be offended, but I shall search this up.

No problem. Look up terms like "specific heat" and compare the masses of the water in a pool (around 80,000 kg for a good-sized residential pool) to the ~1/2 kg for a pint of pee. I'll be interested to see what you find, babe;)

^ I completly agree, physics gets me all hot and bothered. ;)

I understand now that you broke it down on me, baby. I'm actually working specific heat equations for Chemistry. Thanks for enlightening me and bringing that lesson in the form of an everyday occurence. Shoot, another girl entered the thread, now I can't pity/hog compliments.

Since when? Guess you've never been to a swim up bar!!!

As a lifeguard, I feel I must note that urine actually helps balance the pH of the water; it's also sterile, so you can't get sick from it. It's actually *good* to pee in the pool :)

Good for the pool, bad for my nausea. Public pools are all nasty. I've seen pools where kids shit in them and all they do is run the filter a little longer and add more chlorine. Nasty.

94- you expect them to drain it every time a kid shots in the pool?

Everybody pees in the pool. Get over it!

What?!! I live in water. Where else am I supposed to pee?!
