Today, I caught my boyfriend trying to dispose of several empty alcohol bottles, leading to a discussion how dating me and putting up with my insanity has given him a drinking problem just so he can get through the day. Me catching him seemed to be the wake up call he needed, because he dumped me. FML

Guy breaks up with you because you didn't do something he wasn't clear about, when you were doing something for his own good, without his help (in fact with him making it worse), because of circumstances that he caused. Your call on whether you think he's worth hanging on to. If he was still drunk when he broke up with you, MAYBE. Still owes you a hell of an apology. If HE doesn't call YOU, then IMO he's not worth it.
