OP here. I really didn't think this would be posted. So here is a little background on what was going on. First off, my son is 9 years old and Autistic, he is higher fuctioning but does still does repetative (and sometimes annoying) things. This does not mean I love him any less he is still my baby. He started the beeping because his grandpa came home and settled in without going in an saying Hi, so he hid under a blanket in the entry hall and announced himself by beeping loudly. While this wasn't the best way of trying to get anyones attention, it happened. While it started out cute, it did get annoying after a bit, but I also knew that he would stop as soon as he got tired of his "game". Not everyone would put up with the beeping as long as I did, but he was not hurting anything so I decided to let my son have his fun since he was not hurting anything.

Wow, he sure is persistent. That's a high level of commitment to see that joke through.

Perhaps he has a future in sound effects.

Annoying but adorable, I fully understand my cousins daughter is autistic and dies things like this if her schedule is altered this could mean an unannounced visitor, even if said visitor is family she knows really well.
Hmm...was he actually having fun, or do you feel like he was just upset?
If you consider giggling between beeps, then he was highly upset lol He was having fun, if he had been upset I would have stepped in.
You sound like a good parent :) sometimes putting up with your kids antics is the smartest option. And for many parents with Autistic children, it can be the only option.
Oh, I'm so glad. I thought he possibly could have taken his grandpa's lack of a hello to heart.
I'm just wondering, couldn't the grandfather just go and say hi to him? Wouldn't that have made your son satisfied and made him stop beeping?? :)
#80 My dad is a truck driver, while he only drives locally, he works 12+ hours a day and occasionally days are rough. That just happened to one to the crazier days and he just wanted to take a couple minutes to relax before he went in to say hi and play with my son. He by no means meant to hurt my sons feeling or ignore him in any way.
I was going to say, sounds like autism spectrum behavior. I used to hum a low drone sound at times that drove people batty, audial tics are so embarrassing. Good patience on you being able to calmly withstand them.
I understand, my Lil brother (he's 21 now) is autistic. he makes grunting noises alot of the time. especially when he's just sitting doing nothing
Sounds like he was messing you about! Lol! I know an autistic girl who'll just start talking about something insane. After a minute you realize she's playing you.
You probably make a great parent :) . You’re so patient!
Thumbs up, OP!
