In his defence, chivalry isn't a really commonly used word anymore.
it gets said in my circle just as often as the conversation/topic about treating women right comes up, but in illmatics and in your defense isn't really that often....despite the fact it's not said that much is no justification for not knowing the meaning of the word completely..... illiteracy on the other hand is a justification for not knowing an almost extinct word, but still extremely important word none the less......
autoshot, you should really shut your mouth with lots of your comments. Just because some of us know what chivalry is, doesn't mean that everybody does. you calling everybody an idiot for not knowing what it is makes you snobby prick. parents should be teaching their children chivalry though. I learned what it was from an Archie comic years ago.
a* snobby prick.
28, lay off, bro. Autoshot had something to say, and he shared it just like everyone else in these comments.
@skitzofreniks Yeah, there may be people who still don't know what it is, but if they're on the INTERNET asking about it here then they are idiots, because two seconds of googling the term will give them the answer.
I'm a hypocrite? Odd. missbunny, it's ok to state ones opinion, but not if it's dozens (exaggerated) of times in a matter of minutes. it's pretty stupid to run everybody down that doesn't know what a rarely used word is anymore. yes, it is a rarely used word, I hardly hear it these days.
Feminist's...want to be treated equal but really just want to be paid more for doing 1/3 the work a man does. If he opens the door for you, you better go make him a sandwich ASAP
JamesDeanSC, in addition to your pitiful grammar, your comment is offensive in so many ways I don't even know where to start. I hope a mod takes this comment and wraps it in bacon, deep fries it, and shoves it up your ass.
51 on behalf of several ladies like myself, thank you :)
Equality killed it. Note though, holding the door for someone behind you, just briefly as you wait for them to take it off you, is different from standing there holding it while you wait for them to walk past, which is what i think OP was saying.
Well not women in general, but more specifically Feminism. :(. Now you can hardly blame men for not wanting to be courteous like that, some women really spas out...
Way to date dummies. Ydi
Chivalry is NOT dead. I hold the door open for women, but also for pretty much all complete strangers. Most people do say "thank you", most importantly my wife. She's all for equality of the sexes, but she also understands that men are still men and woman are still women. There are still things that a man should do for a woman, not because they are weaker or inferior in any way, but because it's the right thing for us to do. It's how I'm going to raise my son. For all you guys who don't know what chivalry is, that's it. Learn it. Live it.
Hi dad :D
but women are weaker and inferior!!
It is common courtesy for a man to hold a door open for a woman. Similarly, it is also common courtesy for a man to hold a door for a man, for a woman to hold a door for a man, and for a woman to hold a door for a woman. I hope you're not under the illusion that chivalry is just common courtesy, because it isn't--it's sexist, pre-modern, and needs to die already.
I hold it for anybody and everybody behind me. it's just good manners.
HALLELUJAH. Thank you Doc, it's nice to know someone has their head screwed on correctly.

I just can't help but feed this through my Idiot-English Translation Engine: "Haha! That's actually pretty funny! If he doesn't know what chivalry is then it really MUST be dead! Haha! **** your life for having a dumb boyfriend! I failed third grade, but thank god the Internet doesn't discriminate based on age, race, and IQ!" Much better.
If we hold the door open for you, we're being misogynist because we apparently think you can't open the door yourself. If we let you open the door yourself, we're not being chivalrous enough for you. :| I'm so happy I'm gay.
