Today, I helped my mom put away my baby sister's clothes. She's only a week old and has around 60 outfits. I have 4. FML

Well depending on how old you are, your parents expect you to buy your own clothes. For example, my friend and I have to buy our own jeans because we tear them up from skating.

Well I guess you know who the favorite kid is.....sorry OP.

of course she does, she's brand new! everybody buys babies brand new clothes. especially when they're being changed all the time. better too much than too little. besides, supposing you're much older, surely you buy your own clothes. and if you're anything like me, you 'have four outfits' when in fact you have plenty, but just don't wear them so much.

Well how old are you? If you're say, 15-17 and have a job, she probably assumes you should buy your own clothes.

Well I'm guessing you don't have to be changed 5 times a day so don't take it as a sign of who's loved more. Plus you could always ask for/buy more clothes.

people are BEGGING me to take their old baby clothes for my baby. A lot of them even still have the tags on. It says nothing about your parents (or you) that the baby has more outfits. You probably had even more than your new sibling when you were a baby, my 1st did. I'm quite a bit more frugal this time around, even though there's a 7 year gap in between them.

Babies need a lot of outfits because they puke and poop on them all the time. Also they outgrow them quickly.

I'm guessing you don't piss, shit and throw up on yourself several times a day.

You know how fast babies grow and how much they mess up their clothes?

It's not about favorites. Babies have poop blowouts, spit up, messy eating, etc. You end up changing the wee one a million times. Whereas as you are old enough (I'm assuming since you can post on fml) to keep yours clean and in good condition.

I'm not trying to justify only having a few outfits, but in your mom's defense , I can go buy a big box of like-new baby clothes for $20 from Fb. One of my daughter's shirts from Justice is more than that, and once you get to high school the brands are even more expensive and your taste is more particular (I was a teen, too. I had at least 12 outfits at all times that I liked in the store that I never wore again, and that got left out of my outfit counts).

In baby clothes, that's only 6 outfits.
