Today, I interviewed for a call center job making $13/hr, the only job where they called back. I used to live in a doorman luxury apartment in Manhattan with a prime skyline view and clubhouse. That was last month. FML

a) $13/hr in NYC is like $6/hr in most of the rest of the country when you factor in cost of living. Almost anywhere else, it's great. But NYC is INSANELY expensive. b) If you could afford the Manhattan Penthouse, most of you'd have one too. So, you can't really come down on him too hard about that. Now, that being said, I have absolutely no sympathy for you. People like you are the reason everyone else is suffering. Maybe this will teach you to appreciate the value of hard work and earning what you have.

I have no sympathy for you. If you were rich, you shouldn't have lived so lavishly. Now you aren't and you can't afford it. If you hadn't lived so lavishly, and lived modestly, who knows, you could be fine with the modest life style you now live, perhaps?

It's way better than making 2.15 an hour and then quitting to make 7.25 an hour.. but not being called into work for 2 weeks so then you have to pick up pecans to try and make rent in hopes that you can accomplish it an not get evicted. I would give anything to make 13 an hour and actually be able to afford the gas so I can drive to school. Be greatful... you never know who has it worse than you. Atleast your making money and not sitting on the side of. The road picking up pecans...

No kidding, my dad went from successful computer technician $74 and hour to jail for four months with no job reliability when he got out, our 6000 sq feet house wont sell, and it costs us 20k a year taxes. Basically, were ******, a 5 person family with no income expected to pay a 460k mortgage and 20k per year taxes.

Everyone that says "quit whining/complaining blah blah blah be happy with what you have" stfu. You can't say you wouldn't be horribly upset if your yearly salary just cut down to less that 1/3rd of what it use to be. No one on this earth could say they wouldn't be upset. Those saying "cheer up/it'll be okay/at least you have what you have" that's a more correct response.

... I thought that was a pretty good hourly wage to make.

How on earth can people justify bashing this guy? saying "You used to have more than me so you deserve to lose it all" is quite frankly abhorrent. Being more fortunate than someone else, or even more fortunate than most people, does not mean that you deserve to have it taken away from you. Also, saying "At least you have a job" or "You're making more than I am" is also rather stupid. The point isn't that he's complaining about only making $13 an hour, the point is that it is a massive step down from what he used to make. Nobody likes making a small income, but it would be worse for someone who had to go from a large income to a small one. i.e. if there are 2 people, one has lived in a desert all his life, and the other has lived in the city. If you take the man from the city and put him in the desert, then even if he had modern equipment, he would sill find it harder to survive than the man who has lived there all his life.
