Today, I left for college. I spent hundreds of dollars on clothes, bedding and other things. After packing my entire closet and everything else I needed, I left only to have to head back home. My dad forgot to pay the first semesters tuition. He said "Oh well, you would have failed out anyway." FML

Today, after being accepted into the college of my dreams, I found out that my mom has spent all my college savings on alcohol over the years, and she says that it's my fault for not "helping her get help." FML

Today, my dad and his girlfriend left for a 10-day vacation. They booked an expensive beach-house. I'm an A grade student and just last month, he stopped paying my school fees because he 'couldn't afford it.' Oh, and he's making me feed the dog while he's away. FML

Today, my sister finally broke down and told me that our dad gambled away of all my college savings, and I would have to pay for school the best way I can. They have known for months, and when I asked why nobody told me, the reply was, "You're a college boy, we thought you would figure it out." FML

Today, I called my dad to ask why my university tuition had not been paid. He said that my school was "too expensive" and he "couldn't afford it." He then asked me if I would take in his mail while he was away. He was taking his new wife to Hawaii; apparently it's beautiful this time of year. FML

Today, I borrowed my dad's laptop to type an essay. While I was saving it, I noticed some curious looking files and I opened them. They were rejection letters from all the colleges I had applied to. My dad had been forging them so he wouldn't have to pay for my tuition bills. FML

Hmm I graduated from university and I know for sure you are given a few weeks after you have started classes to pay tuition. You should have checked on your tuition bill which is connected to your student account. And if your dad just didn't want to pay, there is always financial aid!

It varies; tuition for my school is due two weeks before classes start. But I agree; OP definitely should have checked to make sure the tuition was paid.

- your dad's either an idiot, or an asshole. - im surprised NOBODY involved noticed that you hadn't been payed for (usually there's some sort of indication sent from the school itself) - that college is pretty stupid itself... it's a good idea to take students in that haven't payed and collect interest on them. it's not like having an extra student in a class that already is happening is going to lose them ANY money whatsoever.
