Today, I let my roommate borrow my car to go to the store. Later, I saw a picture on Facebook of my roommate and his buddies with my car saying, "Gone for the weekend!" I work at 8am tomorrow and he won't answer my calls. FML

Report your car stolen and find a new roommate.

Never a lender or borrower be! Now, you know why!

At this point you report the car as stolen.

I hope this turned out to be a practical joke and the room mate was back before the morning?

Call the police and report the car stolen -- you gave him permission to go to the store, not to take it out of town for the weekend.

I don't know if anyone's already said this (probably not), but you should report it stolen and get a new roommate. I can't believe no one else has thought of this!

what??!! that's not a friend..I woulda reported my car stolen then beat the breaks off that guy!

That's not a friend, it's a roommate.

Never, ever loan your car to someone unless it’s a spouse. Your current problems will get much much worse if room mate wrecks your car or injure someone or damages someone else’s property! Learn from this.

Otherwise you’ll end up on Judge Judy

did he have insurance for your car? Was he legally allowed to drive it? Because if not YDI

You gave him the keys so the police will laugh at the situation. i would download uber, check the bus or walk. Good luck

Not necessarily. The roommate could have taken the keys without permission. Either way, OP loaned it to his roomie to go to the store, not to go out of town for a weekend. I agree with the others Report it stolen.

Just cause he let him borrow it doesnt mean he can take it. THATS THEFT! If i as a kid had let a friend borrow a bike or skateboard and they took off on it, guess what that is? THEFT!

I guess i should clarify my comment, since you obviously may get confused. just Cause he let him borrow it to go to the store does NOT mean he can then take it and keep going. same as a kid letting a friend borrow a bike or skateboard for a little while, when you're done riding it doesn't mean they can now takeoff on it and keep it, it must be returned. Neighbor let you borrow the weed whacker? You cant keep it all summer, finish the job you aaked to borrow it for, then return it or that's theft. Plus its 10x easier to say hey, they took my keys, he has to prove he was given permission to take the car to a whole new state.

and that's when you call the cops and report it stolen! Come on now it's not that complicated
