Today, I lost my patience and asked the deadbeat I loaned money to last year to please pay up. His response: "Blow me." No thanks, dad. FML

Now you have to borrow money from him and when he wants you to pay it back just tell him to blow you.

My rule is whenever you "loan" something, make it a gift. If they give it back, then that's great but if not they obviously needed it more than you did.

Excellent answer! That's what I tell people & that's what I do! You are very wise!

He's your Dad! Didn't he spend hundreds of thousands of $ raising you? I'm sorry but I agree with whatthefreshhell said!

No.. If that was the case he could charge his kid rent.. If the "kid" is a minor it his his job to support them. They didn't ask to be born. If he "borrows" money he should set an example and pay it back. The dad sounds like a complete loser.

How do you know the person who posted the FML isn't an adult who is living with their parent(s) completely rent free and doesn't help out with anything?

And since she refers to him as "deadbeat" I doubt he spent much raising her.

Because she calls him a deadbeat, meaning he did very little to do with her raising.

Oh look, another totally moronic comment (and unnecessary exclamation marks) from vbmg152. Hey, whatthefreshhell: how do you know OP isn't an alien from outer space trying to raise money to build a planet-destroying bomb to wipe us all out? Yeah, how about not acting like a psycho and making shit up for a cheap excuse to bash the OP?

Oh, look, another white knight blindly taking OPs side without knowing any of the variables.

If that's what you consider white knighting, then you really are one messed up, assuming idiot. Not to mention hypocritical too, since you know none of the variables beyond the ones you make up out of thin air. Go troll somewhere else.

52- just because people attempt to pick up on relationship clues doesn't make them white knights. It's been a year, so I'm guessing they don't live together... And most people don't call their fathers deadbeats when they are borrowing money from their kids and telling them to suck their dick if they are father of the year.

I have always been taught that if you loan money to friends and family, consider it a gift and don't have expectations to receive it back. If you do get it back, great. Otherwise, oh well.

thats how it is with family they dont think they have to pay you back

Well if he is a deadbeat, he probably hasn't been very present in your life. It was nice of you to loan him money when he was in need, and now that you are in need for it back he says something as tasteless as that. Just let it go OP, lesson learned!
