Today, I moved in with my new dorm mate. I'm prone to very frequent panic attacks that can only be alleviated by cold air. My roommate is severely anemic, and has violent shivering fits when the temperature is below 80. No matter what, one of us is always shaking uncontrollably. FML

Chuffberry tells us more.

OP here. on the preference sheet for the dorm rooms, i put that i have anxiety attacks, and my roommate put that they have anemia, but they don't sort you on your illnesses, they sort you on personality. Other than the temperature thing, we get along great.

Cab you get a portable fan or air conditioner for your room?

So your roommate has violent fits when the temperature is below 80, and yet he/she goes to school in Colorado? Makes sense

So go outside dont be as asshole like my wifes roommate ad keep it freezing all the time in the room when you have other options.

i kind of think you have anxiety attacks.. i use to have those where i would get all shaky, black out, heart racing, cant breath, suffocating and feel like drowning.. if i were you i would get some natural medicine for it..

OP says flat out that they do in fact get panic attacks.

Get him a snuggy for $20 or tell him to invest in a down parka.

i take lithium and glycine natural medicine for my anxiety attacks because im really sensitive to medication..

Ok but what does that have to do with op, lithium won't help, only cold air.

I understand the lithium but what exactly are you taking the Glycine with it for? Is it to help your body absorb the lithium? If not then I REALLY want to know your answer because to my knowledge Glycine has no independent mood stabilizing uses.

Do you honestly not know there's a reply button to each comment? You post 2 or 3 comments on each FML, I can only assume you're trying to reply to someone else.

To whom are you explaining the reply button because in this thread it was clearly used as it should be. Twinkiefeets replied to spikekutter, as did I. It's you who is the odd one out in this situation.

#113, I think #109 is talking about #40.

sounds like one of you needs to get a grip

either you can get a portable fan, or your roommate can get a space heater! switch off on days. Mondays you get the room cold and your roomie uses their heater and vice versa.

At least it sounds like neither roommate is intentionally malicious. Just out of curiosity, I wonder how well the two of them get along on the things they DO put on the roommate questionnaire: get up early vs. stay up late, quiet study vs. always having friends over, etc.

I don't think this relationship is going to work
