Today, I moved in with my new dorm mate. I'm prone to very frequent panic attacks that can only be alleviated by cold air. My roommate is severely anemic, and has violent shivering fits when the temperature is below 80. No matter what, one of us is always shaking uncontrollably. FML

OP here. on the preference sheet for the dorm rooms, i put that i have anxiety attacks, and my roommate put that they have anemia, but they don't sort you on your illnesses, they sort you on personality. Other than the temperature thing, we get along great.

Cab you get a portable fan or air conditioner for your room?

So your roommate has violent fits when the temperature is below 80, and yet he/she goes to school in Colorado? Makes sense

neither of you touches the thermostat. she invests in a space heater, you invest in a portable AC unit. or, buy her a snuggie.

Tell the school you need to have roommates switched. If it's for medical reasons they pretty much obligated to work something out. If they don't you can sue their asses for endangering the health of both of you. Get free tuition and then some!

You guys should probably see if you can get different roommates. It doesn't seem like the best situation to stay in.

Hope you figure out something soon OP

I feel your pain, I have a similar problem. I am VERY prone to panic attacks. Physical, where I feel sick and dizzy and my throat closes up, usually because I see vomit (I'm emetiphobic), or bees, and emotional, where I cry and thrash non-stop for up to four hours, usually because I have a nightmare or I feel abandoned. My physical ones are only solved by cold environments, and I got so many physical ones when I was younger that I was wearing tank tops and shorts in the middle of a New England winter

Hahaha, this can happen only in america hahahs
