Op, you're not alone. To me, eye contact feels confrontational, as if i've done something wrong.

I feel ya, OP. Eye contact feels all sorts of unnatural to me.

I will get thumbed down, but practice eye contact, all of you practice eye contact. It actually gets easier and more comfortable the more you do it. People will either not trust you or take advantage of you unless you make periodic eye contact. No you don't have to do some long romantic stare, but men and women both need to man up and start to look some one in the eyes when they speak.

I look at people in the mouth usually. I don't stare into their eyes. It makes me very uncomfortable

Don't worry OP, I can't look people in the eye either. That's why I gouge out their eyes, so that way there is less tension!

I also feel uncomfortable making eye contact. But, it's not as extreme as your problem. You should really get help for that.
