House is an awesome show. So I don't really blame you.
House...Road House :)
It's never lupus and everybody lies
I love House as much as the next person here, but come on, man! You can't be serious o__O
There are very few things that make actual doctors' blood boil faster than the words "Gregory House". I don't mind that he's supposed to know every disease ever. I don't mind that he's flawed and an asshole. What I DO mind is the way diseases are treated BEFORE they are diagnosed, and how all the doctors do every damned thing in the hospital, from blood draws to brain surgery. Worst. Medical. Show. Ever.
QQ - UMADBRO?
Sorry DocBastard but I have to disagree with you. While the second part may be true, they treat diseases before diagnosing due to House's messed up philosophy. And that shouldn't really make House the worst show ever. Besides, it's a TV show, wasn't really meant to be realistic. I know this will probably get thumbed down but I had the defend the best show ever.
The philosophy is irrelevant. If anyone "treated" patients that way, he'd lose his license in about 5 seconds. I understand willfully suspension of disbelief, but that only goes so far.
I laugh every time he sends a few of his team members to do CT and MRI scans.
As I stated before, the show was not meant to be realistic. I am well aware that any doctor who does anything like House would have his medical license suspended and would never be hired by anyone. Either way, the reason why I love the show so much is because of House's sarcastic humor, not because of the medicine. He could be a cashier at Walmart for all I care, and I would still love him.
DocBastard: it's a show, fiction, not true. We watch, and love, the show because sometimes it's fun seeing people treated like crap. House is funny, original, and so far beyond what would be acceptable behavior for a doc. Loosen up, Doc, try to find a sense of humor, but at least try not to be a dick to everyone else for having a difference of opinion. That's life!! Lol.
Difference of opinion? Danny is the one who has the difference of opinion with me. I stated my opinion first, and he responded. Why is his opinion any less valid than mine? I wasn't acting like a dick (this time), I was merely stating my opinion. But YOU are acting like a dick, telling me to loosen up. Don't ******* tell me how to act. My sense of humour is just fine. But thanks for educating me on what "fiction" means. I was utterly confused. Yeah, NOW I'm acting like a dick thanks to you.
Doc do all medical shows bug you like this, or is it just House? Plus you only have a few more weeks before there are nothing but reruns and House will slowly go away.
I think it's because you are a doctor that makes this show a little less interesting. I work at a hospital and I know all you said is true. I still enjoy House though. Something about his sarcastic, dick headed, hot minded philosophy caught my attention. If any doctor did half of what House does, his career would be over. Although, I gotta say, if doing what House did wasn't utterly illegal it might save more lives.. Granted that doing that would not kill more people than it would save due to doctors not knowing everything House is supposed to know.
@DocBastard - QQ, UMADBRO?! Unbunch your panties and get over yourself. Its just a TV series.
NAU_future - yes, it has a lot to do with how much on the show I actually know is bullshit. If I weren't so aware of it, it wouldn't bother me so much.
Treating a disease before it's diagnosed sounds like the worst idea ever. For instance, when I was diagnosed with MS, the radiologist at first thought I had a brain infection from HIV. I'll take diagnosis first please.
DocBastard, those are my pros and cons of deciding wether or not to be a doctor. On one side, I'll save lives and have a great career. On the other, I won't love House. Decisions, decisions...
Dude.. It's a show meant to entertain... GTFO!
Dude... you said "GTFO" and had a stupid comment... GTFO!
I think medical shows irritate doctors in the same way crime shows annoy police and detectives. They know first hand that that's not how things work and find it difficult to accept even as fiction. Perfectly understandable.
This is the first time I have ever seen any of Doc's comments thumbed down. You mess with House, and this happens. Such a fantastic show. Shame the writers ruined it last season, now it's barely tolerable. Still my favorite show ever.
I'm sure most people are aware of the fact that House is not supposed to be realistic. I mean, i know almost nothing about medicine but it's not difficult to realize that it is very unrealistic how the doctors act. This part bugs me a little. Having said that, it is still an entertaining show and Hugh Laurie is a very good actor. His meanness and sarcasm are what makes this a show that many people love.
A show about a doctor with a drug addiction, felonies, repeatedly breaks the law, calls patients morons, sexual harassment, gets himself high at the hospital, I could go on here. Is not a show that is geared to realism. It's a tv show dude. Just enjoy it. Also there's an episode that addresses the fact that House doesn't use nurses. He doesn't trust them with his cases, hence why he has a team. If he trusted nurses it would be just him and a bunch of nurses
As I said before (if anyone cared to read what I said), I fully understand that the show is fiction and meant to entertain. "Dude it's just a tv show!" doesn't really help to change my mind. Unrealistic is one thing, but completely ludicrous is quite another. If a police show has cops shooting and killing everyone before arresting them, it would get laughed off the air. This idiocy persists somehow, likely based on Hugh Laurie's dashing good looks and acting chops. He's very good, I'll admit.
There have been police shows that had cops shooting everyone. Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry shot almost everyone. As for the doctors on house doing the blood draws and other things normally done by a nurse. I would like to see that. It pisses me off that when I go to the doctor he spends five minutes in the room. The nurse does everything I'm lucky to see the doctor for five minutes. And he ***** my insurance for $150 and ***** me another $15 copay
doctors treat based on what's most likely without testing in real life too
There is no I in team there's a me though if you jumble it up
There's also tea, meat, met and mat. What's ya point pal?
You cracked the code man. He wants to have met you to have meat and tea while sitting on a mat. Quick before it's too late! To the FMLmobile... Sirin's car.
What #16 commented is a quote from House. not just some random comment :p Yes. I watch too much House. Shut up :p
Due to my obsession with Doctor Who, I seem to be able to travel trough time in a blue police box that's bigger on the inside.
Double thumbs up!!! :)
Due to my obsession with Dr.Who I seem to be loosing my mind, angel statues seem to follow me when I visit churches or old graveyards. What's that about!!
I'm pretty obsessed with Breaking Bad right now, hope I don't quit my job and start cooking meth!
HAHAHA! Well now that you've realized it, it's probably best you stop now before it becomes really habitual. House is a really great show ; along with The Walking Dead, American Horror Story and Breaking Bad. :D
You forgot Game of thrones. Breaking bad ftw though =]
Hell yes! to "The Walking Dead" and "Breaking Bad"!(:.... but "American Horror Story"? It was good! until too many people died in that house and then it because overkill! It upsets me because it was great in the beginning. ):
American Horror Story was great beginning to end. Don't know what they'll do with a second season. But Jessica Lange was absolutely phenomenal in that show.
House used to actually be a good show. I stopped watching it because every episode was the same old shit. It's really sad that you're so obsessed with a fiction tv show that it's affecting the way you walk. Get help, from a REAL doctor, preferably some sort of therapist.
I could give you a real reason to limp. Just give me a clear shot at your knee and Sithis will guide my arrow.
