Well, you can look at this two ways. "Aw man, my parents are so overprotective. I mean, it's only been 9 hours!" or... "Aw, they care!" or, my personal favourite (if you can't sense the bitterness, you're a retard) "Well, at least I have parents!"
FYL My parents and grandma are like that and they contributed to me being scared about many things which should come naturally. I'm in college too and they may not call the police if I don't answer the phone but they surely would overreact just the same.
The same sort of thing happened to me once, except I was in the bathroom, and in the same place as my dad. The bathroom was 20ft away from where he was. I was 12.
well sorry ur parents care dammn quit bitchin

Call them at midnight and reassure them that you're fine. And again at 3am. And again at 5:30am.
My mother was the same way when I first moved out. She would call just about every 2 hours "just to check on me." If I didn't call her by 9 pm every night she would freak out. She did almost call the cops once. I had to have a long talk with her about letting me grow up and be responsible and that I would call her once to twice a day and that was it. Just talk to your parents.
