Today, I received a message from front desk that my concerned father is trying to contact me. I call only to hear that my parents were freaking out that I wasn't answering my phone. They saw me 9 hours ago. They were going to call the police. I'm in college and also don't live with them anymore. FML

Call them at midnight and reassure them that you're fine. And again at 3am. And again at 5:30am.

My mother was the same way when I first moved out. She would call just about every 2 hours "just to check on me." If I didn't call her by 9 pm every night she would freak out. She did almost call the cops once. I had to have a long talk with her about letting me grow up and be responsible and that I would call her once to twice a day and that was it. Just talk to your parents.

Are they paying your tuition or helping? Are you on their health insurance? Then you are still their dependent. Next time, answer your damned phone, it's not that hard.

#19: "needless to say i never went out with him again." that was the point. Just like I told the OP, answer your phone. It's not that hard. And tell people where your're going, waht you're doing, with whom, and for how long. If any plans change let someone know. Really.

Well, you can look at this two ways. "Aw man, my parents are so overprotective. I mean, it's only been 9 hours!" or... "Aw, they care!" or, my personal favourite (if you can't sense the bitterness, you're a retard) "Well, at least I have parents!"

oh man, i bet my parents are just gonna be like that the moment i go to college and leave this ****** house

FYL My parents and grandma are like that and they contributed to me being scared about many things which should come naturally. I'm in college too and they may not call the police if I don't answer the phone but they surely would overreact just the same.

The same sort of thing happened to me once, except I was in the bathroom, and in the same place as my dad. The bathroom was 20ft away from where he was. I was 12.

well sorry ur parents care dammn quit bitchin
