Today, I rubbed chilli powder on my fingers in an attempt to kick the habit of biting my nails. Ten minutes later I went to the bathroom. It still burns. FML

I believe they have a nail polish you can put on your nails that tastes bad when you try to bite them, seems a lot better than chili powder

Next time try vinegar or clear nail polish. They also make polish for this purpose.

I wonder if that was the inspiration for Ring of Fire, by Johnny Cash.

I feel you. I did something like that to myself once: found a wild pepper plant, got some juice on my hands, forgot about it until I went to the bathroom a few minutes later.

OP I know exactly what you're going through I've tried a lot to kick the habit and have bitten through it. I'd say the best choice is acrylics. for some reason it works really well for me probably because A. they're pretty hard to bite through and B. the pain from attempting to bite em off keeps me at bay. but yknow that solution isn't for everyone just a suggestion. good luck OP

Research shows that feces can pass through 12 pieces of toilet paper and often does not get washed from under the nails during hand washing. If that's not enough to dissuade you from biting them then enjoy the feces fiesta!

Just stick you fingers up your butt and you'll be discouraged

I kicked the habit by having fake nails. Kinda hard to bite them then cause it hurts like hell. But seeing as you're a guy you might not be too keen on acrylics.

Please don't be offended, but I laughed really hard at this.

I've done that, but after picking jalapenos off my nachos. They were really big and fresh. And then I went to the bathroom. I feel your pain, OP.

Replace the habit with something a bit less destructive and then kick that. That's how I quit. Swapped to chewing on toothpicks then quit that. Started chewing my nails after quitting cigarettes.
