Today, I showed up to work and my boss was nowhere to be found. A phone call later, I find out he's in Dubai. Oh, and since I'm his personal assistant, I should be able to take care of matters until he gets back. I've only been his assistant for a week. FML

Today, my boss came to my desk and asked me how the work is going, then he just walked away in the middle of me explaining a problem in the project. When I wanted to make an appointment with his secretary, she told me he isn't going to have any time this and next week. FML

Today, I unexpectedly ran into my boss. Last week, I'd met with him every day, putting together a last-minute presentation of my research for him to deliver at conference overseas. It turns out that his passport had expired. FML

Today, I showed up to work at 6am, only to find out the schedule was changed. I wasn't actually supposed to be there until 9:15. My boss never told me this. I didn't get to go home either, he just said "Oh well. Get to work." FML

Today, my boss called on my day off and told me to come to work. She neglected to tell me that it was simply to give me my recent paycheck after it got lost, but then she said, "Since you showed up in uniform, you might as well clock in for today. The new guy no-showed again." FML

Today, my boss selected me to be the company representative at an important meeting in Portland with one of our biggest clients. I was thrilled, until I realized he hadn't said anything about my plane ticket or hotel reservation. He later told me that I'll need to acquire those things myself. FML

Just do as the boss does "DELEGATE" and if that fails throw a fit as any boss would usually do!!! Good luck... Maybe you do a better job than your boss!!!

It sounds like he has faith in you to handle things fine while he's gone. I do have one really stupid question though -- if you're his personal assistant, how could you NOT know he was going to be gone? I don't get that one. Good luck though!

On literally my second day of working at a barn, the trainer handed me her credit card and the keys to her sports car and told me to go buy some things for the horses and riders. Do a good job holding down the fort, my friend, and you'll get respect and maybe a raise.
