Today, I spent hours arguing with my mother, who claimed I shouldn't make a three hour drive because I wouldn't be able to concentrate for that long. I argued that I was a perfectly capable driver, and left. In the last 2 minutes of the journey, I hit a van and messed up the front of my car. FML

I know that a lot of people are gonna put YDI, but that's just unlucky. FYL

Your mum was right, too. Being a capable driver is a completely different thing than having infinite supplies of concentration. Drive for an extended period of time, and you /will/ lose your focus. This is why you should take a break every now and then.

Wow...hitting the van sucks...but you shoulda known u couldn't pay attention that long.

haha..stop, revive, survive. you're only suppose to drive two hours at a time without a break. but anyway, that still sucks, fyl.

**** that. 3 hours is no problem, not if you stay an active driver and don't just sit back and let your car drive itself. YDI for not even being able to focus for 3 hours, you shouldn't have a license...

The point of these set break times is security. If you can drive for 3 hours without losing focus, you'll go "I managed 3 hours, 4 isn't a problem either" the time after that. And "4 worked peachy, let's go for 5" the time after. And eventually you'll hit that point where you do lose your focus. As well as a tree.

Maybe its because your mother said so. Assuming that you love your mother and believe in her, the long argument might have brain washed you. Its no big deal. mistakes happen. But seriously dude, try and get over it.

Why is everyone clicking YDI? We dont know the whole situation. The van in front could've slammed on it's breaks, or something of the sort. And why the **** should she have to stop if it was only a 3 hour ride? It's just an unlucky and ironic situation. FYL.

Sometimes moms know you better than you think.

Get cruise control, makes it a lot easier to drive for long periods of time.

3 hours is not a lot, I had to drive from the Netherlands to southern france 4 times this year, it's not big deal as long as you take breaks every now and then, stop at a petrol station and have a coffee or just stretch your legs... that's really unlucky and doesn't help to write off the stereotype

please, 3 hours? that's nothing, at least for real drivers. YDI for being a woman and leaving the kitchen. lol jk jk

wow. that sucks in so many ways. it's really too bad your mom was right.
