Today, I spent the first two hours of my shift cleaning up liquid poo after an elderly lady sat in one of our chairs and promptly let go of her bowels. I was so embarrassed for her that I even bought her a towel, underwear, and a pair of pants. She then thanked one of my coworkers for all the help. FML

Misplaced admiration shouldn't weaken the unsung heros heart.

I hope to God she still doesn't drive...

In all seriousness, shouldn't this be "F her life"?! That had to be so embarrassing for her. Just because she mistakenly thanked someone else(who could of also been helping her), doesn't mean that what you did went unnoticed.

I realize it must have been extremely embarrassing for her. That's why I bought her new clothing, and a towel to wrap around herself so she could make it to the bathroom to change without anybody noticing what she's just done. I made sure nobody else found out. I'm saying F my life because I had to clean up human shit, and her thanking somebody else (who looks like my polar opposite so I don't know how she could have confused us) afterwards just struck me as insulting.

I would NOT clean that. Why didn't your company call a hazardous materials place to come clean it? We had a customer cut himself and bleed all over the bathroom at work. Looked like someone had been murdered. We were not allowed in there until the hazards people came in.

We are our own hazmat team (yay min-wage employees!), and biohazard needs to be cleaned up properly (we get training), and above all immediately before anybody accidentally comes into contact with it. I've had to clean up blood and bandage a customer as well.

You were embarrassed for her? How do you think she felt? It was most likely accidental. One of my family members can't see very well so she sometimes misses the toilet. Getting old is part of life. It was however, nice of you to buy her some clothes

Of course she was embarrassed, and I did everything I could to make sure nobody else found out what she'd just done.

that was nice she couldn't help it any way one day that probably will be you to so Renner that

Genuinely confused why people think OP is being rude. They did the morally correct and empathetic thing. Regardless of situation, it always sucks to have someone else be mistaken for you, and I imagine doubly so if you work in a service industry where people already treat workers like they are interchangeable. Even if people are upset because it sounds like OP wants credit for it, that's even more ridiculous. Someone getting credit for what YOU did always puts a damper on things for a while, but said coworker could also get some sort of commendation or reward for what OP did, even though they actually did nothing. Which is just salt in the wound of them not correcting the lady and admitting that they aren't the one that helped her. I highly doubt anyone in that situation wouldn't be upset in the same position.
