Today, I spent the holiday with my husband's big family. They suggested we take a family picture, but two people were purposely left out of it. I was one of them. FML

Wow that's so mean. Didn't your husband say anything?

Next year take control of the secret santa and leave everyone else out.

Who was the other one left out? If they're a blood relative of them I bet they felt worse

OP here- I put who the second person was, but I guess they cut that part out. It was my husbands cousins on-again-off-again baby daddy/boyfriend who got her pregnant in a bar bathroom the very first time they met. I seriously wish I was joking.

I feel like it could've been a picture exclusively for your husbands Bloodline. Many people do that for pictures/Memories, but then they usually take one with everyone else. Was the other person another spouse?

Simple resolution. Don't do Christmas with extended family next year. Just spend it with your husband and immediate family (kids, or just together if you have none). When they ask "why?", just tell them this reason..

When one of my aunts had her 70th birthday the entire family came (some flying from all over the United States and most driving hours to get there because she lives really far out in the country). They had professional photographers there to get photos of the family together. It was supposed to be the entire family and everybody who was there (except the photographers) in the photos and group photos. The only photos that were taken was her immediate family (her and her husband, her children, and the grandchildren). No one else was included. We were told that we didn't need to bring cameras (though we all did) because of the photographers and that we would all get pictures with everybody so no one would be left out of pictures because they were behind the camera. We got a picture of her immediate family. So much for "everybody".

This also happen to me at a reunion. I understand, it makes u feel like an outsider. Start spending Christmas with your family . if the can't appreciate your presence they can appreciate your husbands absence.

Rude! I have heard of boyfriends/girlfriends being excluded from pictures, but never a spouse! That is just mean!!

all these stories kind of make me glad that we don't have the "family picture" tradition where I'm from, is it an American thing or does it happen in other countries as well?

I'd say it's an everywhere kind of the thing but I'm American so I may be surprised by the answer! lol

At least one with and one without, rude assholes.
