Today, I taught my 12-year-old brothers that showering cannot be used as a substitute for deodorant, and that they should use both. One of them was almost in tears. FML

Usually you would have to tell them that deodorant is not a substitute for showering, but I guess that works too.

Teach them that if they smell nice, that they are most likely to get a girl to like them. Boys that age are mostly interested in that haha (from my experience)

Almost cried because of that? They seem really cute lol.. =)

Give them each a bar of soap and a washcloth for their birthdays if they don't listen to you.

There's a lot of people on here that haven't been to another country. Most countries don't use deodorant as much as we do. It's all Depending on diet, you don't necessarily smell bad when you sweat if you eat the right foods.

That's not the only factor. Where I live, it can get hot. You don't step outside for 5 minutes in the summer without sweating at least a little. Just showering is NOT enough here. Deodorant is a must, the way Southerners sweat. But I can see where it wouldn't be so bad elsewhere.

I'm sure their classmates will be happy to did.

At least they're not using deodorant instead of showering. That'd be a stinky situation.

12 and using deodorant ??? I'm 13 and I don't need it !

I've never heard of a 12 year old that wants to shower as a substitute for deodorant. Normally they want to use deodorant as a substitute for showering!
