Not to be a dick, but... Sounds like they might not be great owners. I mean, letting your cat out near cars, period, is a pretty dangerous game to play (the stakes being your cat's life), especially if your other cat just died. Like, keep your living cats near and protect them from anything you can protect them from. However, regardless, I hope you're okay (cause I'm sure that's a traumatic experience), and I hope your friend handles the loss of her cats well. RIP
