People in OPs mindset think that comments like that will make their partner feel good about themself. They are wrong. It makes their partners feel the weight of a whole person's well-being on their shoulders. His timing was rather unkind, but it's a tough situation to be in, and I doubt he meant to do it like that (it sounds like it sparked an argument which led to the break up, not an on-the-spot breakup).

If he was able to break up with you in such situation, then trust me when I say that you're better without him OP I'm sure you still love him and also you miss him, but as the time passes by you'll realize that it wasn't the end of the world, just move on (:

Don't build your life around a person OP. They are a part of your life, not everything entirely. It depends on your attitude to take steps to make everything better.

To be fair OP, I think he did you a favor. Though he was a douche about it. If he was unwilling to stand by you emotionally then staying in the relationship is indeed not healthy. If you can, find ways to get out and meet people. This rut won't last forever

Well as mean of him it was to Do that he does have a point, and it was a lot of you to put on him, so both of you are at fault here prolly for the best.

He's right though putting that on a person is a big burden I'm sure you have good things going for you take a step back and see your life from a different perspective. Dumping you however was a total dick move and you did not deserve that. Take care OP I hope things start to look up for you.

I'm sorry hun same thing happened to me recently guys are just super lame arnt they? but people are right its not healthy for one person to hold all your happiness in the long run it was probably the best thing to happen to you.
