That sounds more like a normal day on the life of a parent of a teenager than a true FML. Let her glare; rules are rules.
She is 15, well beyond the age when she would make a mess and not be able to clean it properly. So just let her eat in her room. She's a teen, and teens need some freedom to create their own space with their own rules. That's what having your own room is for.
smile. you're the adult, and her glaring should hold no power over you.
Congrats on being a parent!!
So, making a comment that says that maybe the parent is overreacting to their teen's overreaction is opressing the OP, since the post was approved by readers and staff? Isn't your censorship oppressing me and my opinion? I wasn't a bit rude to OP or anyone in the comment section. There's so many comments with heaps of dislikes, some pretty offensive and insensitive, and they don't get moderated. I wonder if this comment is going to be moderated as well because it "ruins the mood" of the comment section? Your censorship is what "ruins the mood" of an FML member"
#29 I agree, sometimes the mods work well but other times their decisions don't make a jot of sense. I've been on the receiving end of it too. Respectfully suggesting that the OP is overreacting to a minor issue, and explaining your reasoning 'ruins the mood' of the comment section, but screaming 'YDI OP, you're an awful person who deserves it' apparently fits the mood just fine. Way to encourage people to be civil, mods.
If she's 15 why can't she eat in her room?
Has she ruined something while that, electronics or something? Dose she have a pile of dirty dishes in her room? Do she have a eating disorder of some sort? If all no then I don't see why she shouldn't be allowed... If it's your "family tradition" then maybe talk why she don't want to take part of it
YDI. There is no reason a 15 year old shouldn't be allowed to eat in their own room

I never had to eat with my family during routine meals... I'm now long past being a teen, and I still do not understand why some families insist upon watching and listening one another chew on things... (For interaction, there are other, much better times. I personally was taught it is not polite to chew and talk.)
Or perhaps she simply does not like being stared at by another person who is chewing.
